CONFERENCE INTERPRETERS

We have a wide range of conference interpreters, who are experts in several fields and trained in the most prestigious national and international schools of interpreting and languages.

EMCI - European Masters in Conference Interpreting

The Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, established in 1911, currently offers a Specialisation Course and a Masters Course in Conference Interpreting among a wide range of courses in the field of languages, literature and cultures. This course is integrated in the EMCI consortium which wishes to promote the best teaching in conference interpreting in several leading European universities. This Course has the support of two of the biggest conference interpreting service providers in the world: The European Commission and the European Parliament.

ESIT - École Supérieure d'Interprètes et de Traducteurs

This School, founded in 1957 as part of the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III, aims to promote the training of specialist translators as well as conference interpreters and Sign Language Interpreters in French Sign Language. The school's reputation reached beyond French borders very early, helping to spread good practice in the professions of translator and conference interpreter. The school is part of the EMCI consortium like the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon.

ISTI -  Institut Supérieur de Traducteurs et Interprètes

The Superior Institute, established 1958, has its facilities in Brussels, a city hosting a huge number of international organisations. In this city, where languages have always been relevant and important, the ISTI promotes the training of translators and conference interpreters who may later become part of institutions such as the European Commission, the European Parliament and the UN. The ISTI integrates the list of EMT (European Masters in Translation) schools, assigned by the Translation Directorate General of the European Commission, with the best schools in the field.

ISAI - Instituto Superior de Assistentes e Intérpretes

The Instituto Superior de Assistentes e Intérpretes was one of the first educational institutions to provide courses in translation, evolving naturally to provide conference interpreting. On the back of its tradition in translation, ISAI launched its course in conference interpreting in 2001, with a postgraduate course in simultaneous interpreting. Despite the merger of the ISAI and ISAG (Instituto Superior de Administração e Gestão), the field of Applied Languages still has a relevant role, aiming to train professionals that are able to meet the current needs of an ever-changing industry.

ISCAP - Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto

The title of Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto dates from 1976, but its historical roots are much older. The industrial and commercial field played a significant role in the creation of the Bachelor in Accounting and Administration and the Bachelor in Languages and Secretarial Services. Languages have always been well-represented, initially by the course in Languages and Secretarial Services, and from 1997 by the Specialised Translation branch. As a result of the Bologna Process, the course was restructured and the name changed to Communication and Translation. The scientific side of languages and foreign literature is dealt with in two Masters Courses: Computer Aided Translation and Specialist Translation and Interpreting. Both courses aim to promote the best teaching practices in translation and conference interpreting, responding in the best possible way to the challenges of globalisation.
